Topic :Installing a woodstove

I have an old woodstove I would like to install in a workshop. What is the procedure for installing the stove pipe? I want it to extend up from the stove then through the wall and up. Do I need a damper in the pipe? What is the fitting required where the pipe exits through the wooden wall? How do I know how high to go? I would appreciate your help.
Appreciate your help.
This is a tough question for me to answer. There are a number of variables to consider, but here's the best I can do: 1.) you don't need a damper if the stove has one built in. If it doesn't, you do need one in the pipe for the stove to generate enough heat to work properly. 2.) You really should look up the manufacturer and get a copy of the manual of the stove for proper use. It will have all the specs you need to install it safely. 3.) You will need an insulated fitting to go through the wall and insulated pipe the rest of the way from there up. Check your local building codes for the height of the stack. Most likely the shop where you buy the pipe can give you more information than I can because they're familiar with your local codes.
