Topic :Well Trouble
I'm having trouble with a well pump. It turns on and runs out of water. The pump can be turned off for a time and turned back on then will work for a while. Is there a relief valve in the system or is the pump burning out? |
It's hard to say what the problem is from the information you gave me. I really need to know if the pump is in the well or if it's above ground. My guess is that the water table in the ground may be low and the pump is actually running out of water.
After we replied to the original email the sender sent more information...here's the second part:
The pump is submerged and there are no air pockets in the water line. The problem is getting progressively worse, after running water for 5 minutes the water stops. Any help is greatly appreciated.
The problem could only be in 2 places...the pressure switch, or the pump. I'll bet that it's the pump. Most pumps have a built-in breaker in the pump that shuts the pump down if something is wrong (i.e. the pump overheating). It will reset when the pump cools. Pumps are not a cheap item. I would strongly suggest you have an electrician or plumber look at it before going any further.
