Topic :Termites and stucco

Thanks for offering advice. I have been told by my pest control company that I need to remove the bottom 6 inches of hard coat stucco (not artificial stucco) around my entire wood frame house because stucco reaching the ground creates an avenue for termites to enter, undetected and undetectable.

Their advice is correct for parts of the country that typically have termite problems. In any case, finished surfaces such as wood and stucco should never be in contact with soil or plant matter. Both will eventually lead to problems with rot and insects because you're providing a direct path for water and bugs.
