Topic :My mower starts then stalls right away

I've got a push mower that will start up with no problem, but stalls almost immediately. Occasionally it will run for a few minutes, but by and large it starts and stalls. It will stay running if you continually pump the primer bulb however. I used Gumout on the carb - sprayed it inside and made sure the fuel lines weren't clogged, but it still acts exactly the same. Any ideas?

My guess is the choke isn't working properly. It's either not opening after the mower starts or it's not closing enough to keep the mower running. I would check the linkage on the carb for dirt and debris on the outside and clean it well with spray carb cleaner then oil it all with a spray oil. A lot of times the moving parts on the outside will gum up, or get jammed by twigs or leaves. Also, try a new spark plug. The newer mowers are very picky about the plugs...especially Techumsa motors.

Let me know what you find, and if it doesn't work send more info (i.e. make, model, HP, etc) I may be able to narrow it down some more.
