Topic :Water Spigot Problems I have two outside anti freezing faucets that do not allow water to flow. I have verified that the shut off isolation valves are open. These valves have a small drain cap and I get water from those. When the water is turned on, a spray comes from the faucet. There are holes above the hose connection that the water sprays out from. I can not get these valves apart. There is a plastic center-piece inside the spigot. Do I need to replace them? Can I get them to work again? HELP!
Difficult problem to figure out without seeing the valve, there are many make and models. I do know from experience, that most anti-freeze faucets have a very limited life span. We rarely use them on jobs unless people insist on them. Most of the ones we have installed only lasted 1-5 years. I guess the reason for the short life, is that people leave them on all winter, when all they're meant to do is compensate for any SAMLL amount of water left after shutting off the intermediate valve. I would suggest changing them over to standard valves since you already have the shutoff valves with drain caps before the spigots. Just use that system for the winter. I think you'll have much better luck with regular valves since they are usually made of heavy brass instead of white metal and tend to be less prone to corrosion.
