Topic :Which Oil Do I Use In My Mower?

I have a basic 4-stroke Craftsman lawnmower (push type). Can I change the oil with any kind of car oil, such as Pennzoil 10-W-30, or is it better to use an oil specifically for a lawnmower?

The best oil to use if you don't know what was originally in there is S.A.E. 30. 10w-30 will work, but it should be avoided because it contains too many detergents and is lighter than straight 30. Packaged "lawnmower" oil is simply S.A.E 30 in a smaller bottle that costs twice as much. You can buy a quart of Penzoil 30 for the same price (or less) than a pint of "lawnmower" oil.
