Topic :Lawn Blower Stalling
Yesterday I bought a new 30 cc leaf blower from a store going out of business -"sorry no returns or exchanges." It worked fine at first but once it warmed up it flooded out at idle (gas dripping from bottom of carb). Now it runs smooth at high speed but peters out when I let it drop to idle (or even half speed), and then the gas starts dripping. It then takes about 50 pulls with throttle all the way open before it restarts. I tried fiddling a little with the carb adjustment–first slow speed screw, then high–but it didn’t fix it. I’m starting to think it’s a dud. Obviously it’s warranteed, but dealers here say they can’t look at it for four weeks. Is there anything else I can try here at home?
I think the answer is no. It sounds like the carb diaphragm is torn or put in wrong. It’s kind of common, had it happen to me twice in ten items. If there’s no evident signs of a bad hose or loose screws, I would wait to have it fixed. Plus, if you tamper with it, you may void what little warranty comes with it.
This gentleman wrote back a few days later and said that the diaphragm was indeed torn.
