Topic :Motion Detectors problem

Just reread this old note and wanted to write a quick question.

I can't quite figure out how to make my motion sensor light work, it's located on my back patio. I think the problem is that it is wired into a circuit operated by 2 switches. Anyway, it never seems to be activated when it should be (like when I walk around and test it) and I can't get it to come on when I want to use it for a regular porch light. I think both switches must be off for it to operate with motion occurring. If I use it as a regular light, I can't put the switch in the off position because the light is actually on, and I have to leave one switch in the on position to get the light off again (confusing?). I'm not smart enough to own a light like this!!! Any ideas?
Motion sensors are unusual because they are controlled by electronics. Different detectors have different ways of activating. Some need to switch flipped off then back on to activate them. Some need the switch on or off to get them activated. Either way, I don't know which kind you have and it sounds like you don't either. Having the 2 switches complicates things even further.

I'd suggest you scrap the detector you have and get a new one installed. They are quite inexpensive now. You can get a 2 light model for $10. At least this way, you'll know how to operate it and know it's installed properly. The directions will be in the box.
