I want to remove a cellar staircase and build a new one. Can you show me
how?
I’m sorry to say that I can’t really help you on the stairs. Stairways are VERY difficult to properly build because of all the complex angles and measurements required. Stairways are usually left to the most experienced carpenters on a job to do because of the difficulty. When I build stairs it takes 2-4 hours just to do the layout before any wood is cut. For me to try to explain it would take a day, and you probably still would have a lot of trouble with it. It has taken me 10 years (and lots of wasted wood) to learn how to do stairs properly, and I still get stuck on occasion.
My suggestion is to carefully remove the old stairs and re-create them with new wood. That way all the tough work is already done for you.
