I need to tap into an outside phone line. What’s the best way?
Topic :Outdoor telephone wiring
Can you help me with telephone wiring? We have a second phone line that is used to receive voice mail for a small business and also as the internet line. The physical line runs along the house siding before entering the house. Can we tap into it to wire an extension into another room? What type of splitters/connectors/ whatever do we need? Will a splitter interfere with the current hook-up? Thanks much.
Real simple answer. Yes, you can tap into it as long as you use a weatherproof box to do so. Phone lines are subject to humidity and temp. variances, so use of a silicone sealer is a must on the connections. It will not interfere with the other phone.
You can probably get the box at Radio Shack or Home Depot. Just mount it on the wall and make the connections on the block in the box, seal them and you’re done.
