How do I get a creosote stain out of blue jeans? My son sat on a treated-wood fence or landscape timber, and the stain smells just like creosote. I used some oil and grease remover that I bought at the grocery store and removed most of the stain, but there is a stubborn stain remaining.
No promise that this will work, as creosote is stubborn stuff, but try mineral spirits (common paint thinner). Then follow it with your grease remover and wash in tide. Creosote is basically tar, and you treat it as such.
