Topic :Stripped Faucet Handle

The hot water adjustment to the shower faucet no longer works. The part
where the handle cover (knob) attaches to is stripped and will no longer grip and turn the water on and off. Do these wall attachments work like the sink compression faucet where you can remove the cartridge and replace it?... Also what is the simplest way to fix it if it does not work that way. This has happened at my mother's and I am going up there today to see if I can fix it and would like to have some idea of what I am talking about.
THANK YOU
I don't know what kind of faucet you are referring to, so I can't say weather or not the cartridge can be replaced. But, there is an easy fix for stripped handles.

Hardware stores sell replacement handles for stripped stems. They have set-screws on them to clamp onto the stem and hold it tight. They cost about $6 each and are a lot easier to replace than the entire stem. I've used them many times with excellent results.
