Topic :Leaky Shower Diverter

Our tub spout has a pull-up style shower diverter. The diverter does not completely shut off the water to the spout. Is there a way to fix this?
The spout/ diverter is probably worn out or bent from years of use. There is no way to repair it. You can buy a new one at a hardware store for around $12.

Using a pipe wrench, simply unscrew the old spout/ diverter counter-clockwise and remove it. Wrap the end of the pipe coming out of the wall 3 times with teflon tape ($1 or less) and install the new spout/ diverter turning it clockwise. Only use the wrench for one complete turn soas not to damage the new one.
