Topic :Painting kitchen cupboards
I would appreciate your help in this question. I have been trying to repaint the kitchen cupboards in a mobile home. However inspecting the cupboards more closely it looks as if they are made of compressed wood covered with a simulated paint/wood finish (almost looks like the finish is steamed or pressurized onto the wood). I know the paint I apply does not appear to adhere to the places where this finish has come off but moves back to the simulated finish leaving the part where the paint has worn off still bare . In this case I have only used oil based paint. My question is do you have any idea what they have covered these cupboards with and can I paint them in some other way,
Appreciate your help. |
You need to prime them with a Shellac based primer before painting. One product is called Bin. Also, make sure the cupboards are clean and grease free.
It wouldn't hurt to very lightly sand them first with extra fine sandpaper too. |
