Topic :Blistering paint
A section of wall in my bathroom (second floor) won't hold paint. It keeps blistering (large blisters) and peeling. We cant tell what the surface underneath is (looks like flaky cement) but it's covering a section of our chimney. As far as we know this chimney is used only for the venting of our water heater (in the basement). What can we do to keep paint on this section of blistering flaking wall? We've been using a glossy latex throughout the our bathroom. |
| I would guess you have a moisture problem. Probably bad flashing on the roof around the chimney. I would start there. Nothing will keep the paint on the walls if there's a leak. It may not be a big leak, just enough to let moisture into the wall, so look closely. |
