After quite a bit or research on this to find an answer, the only thing I came up with is blotting some clothing dye on it, to try to come close to the original color. It didn't sound like a good idea to me because you could end up worse off than before; if it goes bad. You will also be handing the next owners another problem...the carpet backing will surely fall apart in a few weeks from the bleach burn.
My suggestion would be to call a carpet installer and have them seam in a leftover piece of carpet remnant or maybe cut a piece from a closet to seam in. They can do it in a matter of minutes and it shouldn't cost very much...maybe $30. The end result will be much better than anything you could try to do. You probably won't be able to see the patch as long as the carpet isn't a Berber or another tight-nap carpet. |
